My Favorite Things To Do In Scottsdale, AZ

With the Sonoran Desert as its backdrop, Scottsdale, Arizona, offers visitors and residents a variety of fun-filled activities, such as luxurious spas and resorts, lush golf courses, educational historic sites and museums, delicious eateries, and much more. You would be hard-pressed to have a boring experience when visiting this city.

Here are my favorite things to do in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Explore Old Town Scottsdale
Visiting Old Town Scottsdale provides a quick glance at the lifeblood of this city. Just by walking around you will find a plethora of things to do, from art galleries to specialty shops, and a large variety of eateries and bars. If you love history, you will have the opportunity to discover and explore famous sights such as the Old Adobe Mission and the Scottsdale Rodeo Museum. Old Town Scottsdale is also home to the Scottsdale Fashion Square, the biggest retail destination in the Southwest region, and the Entertainment District, which is home to many nightclubs. If you visit Old Town Scottsdale, take advantage of the free trolley to cover as much ground as you can.

Hike the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy
If you truly want to experience the beauty of the desert, look no further than the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. This non-profit gathers and recruits volunteers to run the preserve, educate visitors, and assist avid hikers who are looking to explore as many trails as possible. If you go on a self-guided hike, you will enjoy the sight of large Sonoran cacti among large boulders in the colorful background that only Arizona can provide. Other recreational activities available include rock climbing, nature tours, biking, and horseback riding.

Experience the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts has something for everyone: musical theater, Flamenco shows, plays, and live performances by classical singers, rock/pop artists, and world-renowned musicians. If you buy a ticket to their upcoming season, you will enjoy featured artists such as pianist Bryan Wallick and The Four Italian Tenors.

Walk Through the Butterfly Wonderland: A Rainforest Experience
Visiting the Butterfly Wonderland is one way to step out of the dry Arizona climate into the lush humid environment of the rainforest. Housing more than 3,000 butterflies from around the world, the Butterfly Wonderland is the biggest butterfly preserve in the United States. The exhibits showcase the life of a butterfly, from caterpillar to cocoon and from cocoon to butterfly. Guests can sit in wonder as they watch countless butterflies emerge from the chrysalis in the country’s largest butterfly emergence gallery. Other activities include the 3D Theater, the Rainforest Reptile Exhibit, the Honey Bee Extravaganza, and even an edible insects station. There is no shortage of things to see and do here.

Take Advantage of Your Own Backyard, or Come See a New One!
As you can see, Scottsdale has a lot to offer. For those of you who live in Arizona, take advantage of these great resources and enjoy some new ones. If you are not from here, Scottsdale is considered the West’s most Mid-western town, offering friendly people and fun activities for the entire family.
